How to register your Winkeo FIDO U2F security key
for your Bank of America account and how to use it for authentication?

 Winkeo FIDO U2F Security Key Enrollment

Bank of America (BOA) supports use of U2F devices as strong multi-factor authentication mechanism in high value transactions. BOA supports FIDO2 certified tokens readily. A user requires to have their online banking enabled to use this feature. User can register/enroll U2F devices from online banking under the option Security Center -> Additional Security Features -> USB Security Key as shown in screen shots below:

If there are no active enrolled devices, “Add” option will be displayed:

Clicking on “Add” will display an Authorization Code Screen. User requires to successfully authenticate using a one time Authorization Code and Card PIN to be able to successfully add a device. User to request Authorization Code to be received on the mobile enrolled in his profile.

User to Enter the Authorization Code and Card PIN details on the screen:

If a customer doesn’t have a domestic number on file, select ‘Having Trouble receiving your code by phone?’. This will prompt the customer to call the support number to get the code from the call center associate.

User will be asked to insert the key into USB port

User will be asked if he can share the make and model of the security key. It is recommended user clicks on “Allow” that helps BOA to know the device being used and provide any additional support in case of need.

Once User completes the action, device is successfully enrolled and confirmation is displayed. A default user name is used to store the device. But user can change the name of the device by clicking on the name.

Authentication into Bank of America

Once your USB security key is set up, when signing in to your online account or making a bank transfer, you will be prompted to tap the button on the Winkeo FIDO U2F security key already inserted into your USB port.

Log in to BOA and touch your Winkeo FIDO U2F security key

Unenroll / Delete Security key

Step 1

User goes to Security Center -> Additional Security Features -> Edit USB Security Key

Select the Key to be Deleted and Click “Delete”

User to confirm the Delete action by pressing “Yes, delete”

User will be required to authenticate using a One Time Authorization Code and Card PIN details to be able to successfully delete a key:
